Here’s how to be in the top 1 percent of podcasters

Let that tweet sink in for a second…

90% of podcasts don’t get past episode 3

Your competition is not the 2 million podcasts. It’s the 20,000 podcasters who didn’t quit.

If you make four podcast episodes, you’re already in the top 10% of podcast creators. Create another 18 episodes and boom! Congratulations, you’re now in the top 1% of podcast creators. Now, it’s completely up to you if you want to stay consistent and make your podcast episodes better.

From the statistics above, you can see that people quit very early. There’s also a lot of room for creativity and expanding your knowledge. When the going gets tough, keep on pushing through. Learn how to create Atomic Habits, which will enable you to push past the wall most of us hit during our creation process.

Here’s something else you need to know when learning how to be in the top 1 percent of podcasters. Find subjects you love talking about. Think about the last time you were talking to a group of friends. What got you excited? Could you talk about this for more than ten minutes and invite others to discuss this with other people? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you could start a podcast on those things that excite you.

Learning how to be in the top 1 percent of podcasters got me excited! Once I read that tweet, I went back to check how many episodes I had created myself, and it was surprising bang on 21 episodes. It made me want to create more so I can continue to be in the top 1 percent.

It was actually hard to get there. I started my podcast about fitness, and mainly about CrossFit. My first season was 7 episodes long which meant I was in the top 10 percent, but I did lose motivation. It took a while to get back into recording more episodes. Once I plucked up the motivation to get back to recording my podcast, I decided I needed to change what I talk about. I decided to go broader and talk about what’s happening each day. Season 2 ended up being fourteen episodes which is when I hit the glorious 21 episodes.

Things changed in my life, and I decided to take a pause until recently. When I learned about being in the top 1% and needed to keep that up. I have now created a season 3, and I look forward to pushing through even more. Hopefully, I can gain an awesome audience and create an incredible community.
