What is the National 3 peaks challenge?

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft), and the total driving distance is 462 miles.

Why am I taking on this challenge?

I’m taking on this challenge because my brother passed away from heart disease, and more people should be aware of how bad it can be. We weren’t aware of his issues until it was too late, and the information unfolded after his passing. If people were educated around the disease, and had frequent check-ups, then they have a fighting chance.

My reason for doing this isn’t just to raise funds to an already incredible charity, but to also raise awareness to those unaware of it’s awful impact. If more people are made aware, then more people can be saved.

I feel like the 3 peaks challenge is a perfect way to fundraise and raise awareness at the same time. If you are concerned about heart disease, then please see a doctor and get your blood tested. You can also take a look at the British Heart Foundation‘s website to find out more information.

I have never done the 3 peaks challenge before, and I am looking forward to taking part and sharing my brother’s story to everyone who listens. Thank you for reading this blog post, and I hope you consider donating to the cause.

My wife is help me to train for this event, and we are havcing some lovely but tiring walks together. They started off at around an hour, but have grown to be over three hours. The walks will only get longer and longer until the time comes when I’m hiking up those mountains. Honestly, I don’t think what I do can even prepare my body for what’s to come.

However, I have to try my best and keep pushing through. There will be plenty of photos and videos for a post event blog post. If you can, please donate to my fundraiser, and if you can’t, please consider sharing it wherever you can. It would absolutely mean the world to me, and it will encourage me to keep going and pushing through the pain and mental barriers.

You can also follow my Instagram to see updates on my training and updates during the 3 peaks chellenge. Any comments of encouragement is always welcome, and I hope you enjoy the updates from my training and the event as it happens.
